Meet Our Team

The same two people look after you at every visit — that continuity is the whole point of a small, independent practice.

James “Jim” Timko, M.A., FAAA

Owner & Licensed Audiologist FAAA

Jim has been caring for the hearing of DeLand and Volusia County since 1990, when he opened this practice as a young audiologist who wanted to run things his own way: enough time with every patient, honest recommendations, and a door that stays open long after the hearing aids are fitted.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Speech & Hearing Sciences from Ohio University in 1984, followed by his Master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Florida in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Across three and a half decades he has fitted, programmed and repaired hearing aids through several complete generations of technology — and for many families here, he has now looked after two.

Lyndsay Smith, A.A.

Licensed Audiology Assistant & Technical Specialist Licensed A.A.

Lyndsay joined the practice in 2021 as our receptionist. She took to the clinical side quickly, went on to earn her Audiology Assistant license, and has become the person most likely to get a stubborn hearing aid working again.

She handles much of our hearing aid servicing, troubleshooting and supplies, and she is usually the voice you hear when you call the office. If you have ever walked in with a device that had stopped working and walked out twenty minutes later with it fixed, that was almost certainly Lyndsay.

She is currently working toward her Hearing Instrument Specialist License.

Our office

You will find us at Suite 206

We are at 844 N. Stone Street in DeLand, just north of downtown. Suite 206 is the middle entrance, and there is parking right at the door — no stairs, no long walk from the car.

Walk in during office hours if you just need batteries, domes or wax guards. For anything clinical, give us a call and we will find you a time.
